Electrical Engineering Project Manager

Santa Clara, CA

Backed by Silver Lake Partners, Vantage owns, develops, and operates highly efficient and scalable wholesale data centers with a blue chip clientele. They just received additional funding specifically to support the construction of additional data centers to augment their 18 acre data center campus in Santa Clara and 64 acre campus in Quincy, WA. The Design and Engineering team collaborates with Operations, Sales, and Management to ensure designs fulfill customer requirements. Engineering works closely with partner contractors to ensure the best design and helps manage these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines. We’re looking for the unique talent with diverse critical facility project experience spanning the entire life-cycle of construction projects from RFP through commissioning.

QUALIFICATIONS:
– Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college in electrical engineering
– 4+ years of experience in Electrical Power design and construction
– Registration as a US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) – State of California and/or Washington preferred
– A LEED AP is highly recommended for this position
– Data Center experience is a plus
– Proficient in AutoCAD. Intermediate MS Word & Excel skills.
– Knowledge of all codes and ordinances including NEC and NFPA.

Chief Engineer

We’re conducting a search for a Chief Engineer in Santa Clara for Vantage Data Centers. Vantage is in process of building their 4th data center on the 18 acre, 42 MW Santa Clara campus. Vantage also operates a 6 MW data center on their 68 acre campus in Quincy, WA, with capacity today to build two additional data centers.

The Engineering Department is responsible for the design and support of cutting edge data centers and ensuring that Vantage’s state-of-the-art data centers are functional 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The department collaborates with Operations, Sales, and Management to ensure the design fulfills the Vantage customer requirements. Engineering works closely with partner contractors to come up with the best design and helps manage these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
– College degree in engineering field a plus
– Universal CFC certification required, or obtained in 1st year of employment
– 10+ years of experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision
– 10+ years of project management experience
– Managerial experience and strong interpersonal skills
– Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
– Ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports
– Proficiency in MS Office and building automation systems

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
– Supervise and organize all engineering activities: Performs quality control checks ensuring safety and effectiveness or reliability of the system
Hold’s employees accountable on preventative/corrective maintenance of facility equipment, critical and non-critical alike
– Daily leadership and administration of the engineering functions at the property with the objectives of safely and effectively operating machinery and building systems
– Encourage and foster a team-oriented environment through positive feedback
– Follow and maintain the site-specific preventive maintenance and work order program
– Maintain compliance with the Engineering Services Compliance Program, demonstrating improvement from previous scores
– Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the Base Building Systems and be able to immediately recognize system performance deficiencies and respond to operational and emergency situations
– Maintains inventory of tools and supplies to operate the building
– Protect and improve the value of assets and ensure the building machinery and systems meet or exceed their expected life
– Manage contracted service work at the property, including understanding and developing the scope of service, bidding, awarding and administering of contracted duties
– Work with Construction Managers on capital improvement construction projects from document review to project project closeout and completion
– Assist in development of a capital plan which would include planning for infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure the building’s future capabilities are maintained
– Responsible for ensuring major projects performed at the building are properly planned, executed and closed out in accordance with standard industry practices
– Oversee the activities of contractors working within the building
– Willingness to provide regional support for due diligence or provide other needed support for new property assignments

Lead High Voltage Systems Engineer

DESIRED SKILLS:
– 5 to 7 years of experience working with high voltage infrastructure is required (Journeyman electrician status with local IBEW is preferred)
– Must be knowledgeable in NFPA 70E, 79, as well as NEC standards related to electrical systems
– Must be able to perform switching, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on energized electrical distribution systems ranging from 120 volts to 13.8 kV
– Experience working in a mission-critical environment is required
– Ability to read and interpret Electrical/Mechanical schematics and sequences of operation
– Experience with SEL and GE protective relays is required

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
– Lead systems engineer and subject matter expert on all work with energized high-voltage distribution infrastructure on campus
– Complete various maintenance and troubleshooting tasks with utmost regard for safety and critical up-time of the distribution network, with minimal supervision
– Make day-to-day decisions regarding the performance of data center critical support infrastructure
– Ensure proper procedures are followed for energized high-voltage equipment PMS’s and repairs
– Understand SEL and GE protective relay and breaker function control logic
– Troubleshoot and maintain transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, and other high voltage infrastructure
– Create MOP’s, EOP’s, and job safety documents as needed to maintain critical facility up-time
– Work with the Operations team on a daily basis to resolve any open high-voltage system repairs and or maintenance issues
